It took me forever researching for a ramp. I definitely don't want one with the sandpaper surface. I also didn't want one that's too heavy otherwise I'll avoid using it. In the end, it was between this tri-fold Pet Gear, the Gen7Pets Natural Step Ramp for Pets , and the PetSTEP Original Folding Pet Ramp, Khaki/Beige .
The ramp was shipped in its original box and thankfully, undamaged. I'm a 5-ft 108-lb woman and don't find it annoyingly heavy and bulky. (Of course I'd prefer a ramp that weighs no more than 5 lbs, 18" wide, and 80" long and yet very durable and thin but then maybe it will cost $500!) The actual width covered by the green turf is 12.5". I had my 5-year-old 75-lb Golden Retriever walk across the ramp several times while it was flat on the floor, then I put one end on the couch. As long as the treats kept coming, he was chill. Next I propped the ramp on the edge of the cargo floor of our Acura SUV which is about 28.5" from the ground. After much coaxing and treats, my dog was able to go up and down the ramp. This is our 2nd day with the ramp and we've used it 4x already. I still have to hold on to his collar to make him do a bit of a running start to go up the ramp. Going down is a breeze for him. I wish that I'd bought a ramp when he was still a puppy.
