Is The Vehicle Safety Harness Crash-Tested?

It has not gone through the detailed crash test. However, we are proud to say that our Vehicle Safety Harness is specially designed for your dog’s safety on car rides: We spared no expense and applied reinforced cross-stitching throughout and used all metal hardware as well as a wider padded chest piece.

 

How Do I Measure My Dog For The Mighty Paw Harnesses?

You'll always want to measure around your dog's neck and chest. Simply use the dotted lines in the measurement graphics we include with all of our harness product listings as reference points. That's where you'll want to measure. It's easiest to use a soft measuring tape on your pup, but you can also get accurate measurements using a piece of string or ribbon and a ruler. Place the string around your dog's neck and the chest area right behind the front legs, respectively. Use your fingers to mark the length on the string, then place that amount of string along a ruler to get its length in inches.

 

Are The Harnesses Padded To Avoid Chafing?

Yes, all our harnesses are padded.

 

Can I Add Tags To The Harnesses?

Yes, all our harnesses come with D-rings for tags. Tip: Use our dog tag carabiner clips to easily attach your pup's tags and switch them out between their different collars and harnesses.

 

Do The Harnesses Fit Toy Size Dogs?

Unfortunately, our harnesses don’t fit toy size dogs. Our smallest size harness is the X-Small Sport Dog Harness with the following sizing: Neck 12”, Chest 17”-20”.

 

Can The Harnesses Be Washed? How?

Yes, our harnesses can be washed either by hand or in the washing machine on the cold and gentle cycle. We recommend air-drying them as opposed to using a dryer.

 

Do The Harnesses Have To Be Pulled Over A Dog’s Head?

No, they don’t! Our Sport Harnesses have quick release buckles to help you easily put them on and around your dog’s neck instead of pulling them over the head.

 

Are The Leash Attachments Metal?

Yes, all the hardware is made of metal.

Can My Dog Lie Down On The Backseat When Wearing The Harness And A Seatbelt?

Yes, absolutely! The straps are adjustable and extend from 16” to 26”. The chew proof seat belt is available in 3 different lengths: 16", 24" and 32".

Are Your Belts Universal? Do They Fit In All Vehicles?

Are Your Safety Belts Adjustable?

All of our nylon belts(safetybelt, seat belt for buckle, and headrest seat belt) are all adjustable. We also carry chew-proof dog seatbelts.

 

Does Mighty Paw Have A Chew-Proof Seat Belt?

We sure do! Our Chew Proof Dog Car Safety Belt is made of 2.34 mm thick stainless steel wire cable and comes in 3 sizes(16”,24”, and 32”). The belt attaches to the vehicle latch bar in the backseat area.

 

I Can’t Find My Latch Bar. Where Is It Located?

We designed our product using the same specifications used for securing child car seats. In 2000, the federal government(FMVSS)required that all vehicles be manufactured using latch bar anchor points. These latch bars are located inside the backseat crease of your vehicle, generally near the seat belt buckles.

 

Does The Latch Bar Seat Belt Work On The Front Seat?

No, the Latch Bar Dog Seat Belt only works in the back seat area. Options for the front seat area are the Headrest Dog Seat Belt and the Buckle Dog Seat Belt. All of our Dog Seat Belts work best in combination with our Vehicle Dog Safety Harness.

 

How Much Dog Weight Does The Latch Bar Seat Belt Support/For Which Size Dog Does It Work?

The carabiner is made of extra strong, yet lightweight, aviation aluminum with a Max Force Tension of 400 kg(850lbs). It’s safe to use for dogs weighing up to 110 lbs.
